TWO FILIPINOS FIGHT FOR WBO ASIA PACIFIC TITLES IN THAILAND By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Fri, 13 Jul 2007 Two Filipino boxers will fight for WBO Asia Pacific titles today in Ratchaburi, Thailand following the partial lifting of the ban imposed by Games and Amusements Board chairman Eric Buhain on Filipinos fighting in Thailand. The ban was imposed following the death of Lito Sisnorio after he was knocked out in a terrible mismatch by former world champion Chatchai Sasakul earlier this year. WBO Asia Pacific No.1 ranked light flyweight Along Denoy who has a record of 14-6-1 with 7 knockouts takes on Thai champion Kaichon Sor Vorapin (25-9,9 KO’s) in a rematch while Eduardo Apa ap who is also rated No.1 and has a record of 6-3 with 1 KO clashes with WBO Asia Pacific super bantamweight champion Sod Looknongyangtoy who has an impressive 30-2, 11 KO record. Kaichon won the title with a twelve round unanimous decision over Rocky Fuentes on January 31, 2006 and will be making his second title defense. Denoy had previously lost a six round technical decision to Kaichon in a title fight on July 8, 2005. At the time of the stoppage the Filipino was behind on the scorecards of all three judges 49-46. In his last fight Denoy on May 10 this year, Denoy scored a fourth round TKO over Robert Rubillar, Sod Looknongyangtoy on the other hand has beaten no less than 18 Filipino boxers during his 32 fight career. The 30 year old southpaw dropped a twelve round unanimous decision in a battle for the vacant WBO world title against Daniel Ponce De Leon on October 29, 2005 and was then knocked out in the first round in a rematch on July 15, 2006. Ponce De Leon is scheduled tio defend his crown against emerging Filipino ring sensation Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista in the main event of the Philippines-Mexico World Cup in Sacramento, California on August 11.
