Tete decisions Oliva to bag WBO Africa crown

FORMER International Boxing Federation (IBF) world super flyweight champion Zolani Tete of South Africa defeated World Boxing Federation Asia Pacific flyweight champion Jether ?The General? Oliva of General Santos City by a unanimous decision to capture the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) Africa super flyweight title on Saturday in East London, South Africa.
The 27-year old Tete improved his record to 22-3-0 (win-loss-draw) while Oliva, 28 dropped to 23-4-2.
Tete, a southpaw previously stopped Paul Butler by an 8th round TKO last March 6 at the Echo Arena, Liverpool, Merseyside, United Kingdom.
Last year, Oliva also fought but lost to Moruti Mthalane by a split decision in their 12-round title-fight for the vacant IBO world flyweight crown held March 15 at the Durban International Convention Centre in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. - LITO DELOS REYES
