CHARLES HATLEY BATTERS ANTHONY MUNDINE TO WIN WBC SUPER WELTERWEIGHT SILVER TITLE
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Thu, 12 Nov 2015

American Charles Hatley battered Australia?s Anthony Mundine to win the WBC super welterweight Silver title at the Melbourne Convention Center via a one-sided 11th round TKO as the father of Mundine, Tony threw in the towel as Angeles City resident Bruce McTavish from the Philippines appeared ready to stop the contest.
A brutal second round in which he was dropped three times by Hatley set the stage for the devastating loss of Mundine who was battered by body shots from the tough Texan.
Mundine demonstrated rare courage to continue fighting and even dropped Hartley in the 10th round but Mundine couldn?t pull off the knockout he needed to overcome the lopsided points margin of Hatley.
Mundine was reportedly considering retirement after the battering he suffered especially since he had complained of tendonitis in both elbows which reportedly hampered his sparring schedule.
The 40 year old Aussie who admitted prior to the fight that he was only about 85 percent ready clearly showed during the fight.
Mundine claimed that despite the battering he received in the second round he wasn?t hurt and didn?t want to stop in the eleventh.
With the win Hatley improved to 26-1-1 with 18 knockouts and although he is ranked only No. 15 by the WBC, Hatley may well be in line for a shot at the title vacated by the retired Floyd Mayweather Jr.
