AL BERNSTEIN SALUTES NEW ENGLAND CHAMPIONS

Hall of Fame Boxing Announcer Al Bernstein has declared Sunday, November 8, as a day when ?New England Boxing Royalty? will be recognized and honored. On that day Bernstein will serve as Emcee for a special event at which USA Boxing New England honors five amateur standouts who went on to become world champions. The honorees are Vinnie Pazienza, Mickey Ward, Joey Gamache, Jose Rivera and John Ruiz.
?The careers of these great champions taken together create a tapestry of the excellence and importance of boxing in the New England area,? Bernstein said. He added, ?The achievements of these men made such a lasting impression on the sport. They have different styles in the ring and different personalities outside it, but the common trait these men share is the heart and will of a champion. I have been honored and delighted to announce matches of every one of these champions. Those personal memories make this even more special."
