NIETES HEADS HOME A SUPER CHAMPION

LOS ANGELES -- WBO junior flyweight world champion Donnie 'Ahas' Nietes (L) and ALA gym manager Edito Villamor were at the Los Angeles international airport Saturday night as they heads back home to the Philippines. Nietes successfully defended his belt for the 8th time by with a dominant performance over Juan 'Pinky' Alejo of Mexico last Oct. 17 at Stubhub Center in Carson, CA and last Thursday over in Orlando, Florida during the 28th WBO convention, he was awarded a special belt by the WBO as a super champion. Nietes is set to see action again in March next year in his hometime in Bacolod city.
