BRACKIN BRACES FOR COUNTRY CHALLENGE: Chris Brackin to lead Country in the Brayd Smith Cup

PhilBoxing.com

CHRIS CRITTER BRACKIN IS A FUTURE STAR AND HE'S EXPECTED to shine brighter than ever on October 31. Brackin has been bestowed with the ultimate honour - handed the captaincy of the country team for the Brayd Smith Cup challenge.

The reigning three time National Golden Gloves champion will lead the 19 member Country team against their city counterparts with the hope at the end of the night he will be hoisting the inaugural Brayd Smith Cup.

"This one means more to me than any other honour," Brackin said.

"To be named Captain of the country team for the Brayd Smith Cup is a privilege.

"Brayd was some I always looked up to and he helped me a lot in the gym.

"I really want to win the Brayd Smith Cup.

"I can't wait for October 31, I'm ready," Brackin said

Brackin will face another of the countries top prospects Kavana Vaotuua from Zion Boxing gym.

Vaotuua is also a Queensland and Australian champion.

"Kavana is a very tough fight for me but I think I can win it," Brackin said.

"I want to fight the best and Kavana is definitely one of the best out there.

"Hopefully I can secure a victory on the night and that's one win closer to my team winning the Brayd Smith Cup," Brackin said.

Brackin is trained out of Smithy's TGW Gym by Brendon Smith and Steven Spark.

"I can't speak highly enough about Critter Brackin," Steven Spark said.

"He's a fighter in every sense of the word.

"He works extremely hard in the gym and he gets the results in the ring.

"He's a prospect of the future there is no doubt about it," Spark said.

Not only is Brackin considered a future star in the sport, he also continues the famous Brackin legacy.

"We all know the deeds of the Brackin family in these parts," Brendon Smith said.

"Critter is the next generation.

"He is a great fighting talent but more importantly he's a great young man.

"He has a great family behind him.

"His parents Brian and Kellie are a big part of everything we do at Smithy's TGW Gym and their positive influence and guidance has no doubt made Critter the great young man he is.

"I believe it's quite fitting that he's been named Captain of the Country team.

"He's earned it.

"He's one of many stars that will shine on October 31 as part of our amateur Brayd Smith Cup City vs Country challenge.

"There is no doubt a number of these young fighters will go on to bigger and better things whether it be Commonwealth Games, Olympics, World Championships and in the pros," Smith said
