The heated battle for the vacant WBO Asia Pacific super bantamweight title between 21 year old Filipino Robert Allanic and South Korean veteran Jae Bong Kim will be featured on the top-rated weekly boxing show “The Main Event” over RPN 9 at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Sponsored by Tanduay, the No.1 Rhum, Pagcor and PCSO, the program will also include an exclusive interview with former WBC super flyweight champion Gerry Pe?alosa who is scheduled to leave for Los Angeles on Monday to step up training at celebrated trainer Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Gym in preparation for his WBO title fight on the much-awaited “World Cup” between the Philippines and Mexico.
Pe?alosa battles WBO bantamweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez while in the featured fight of a six-fight card emerging ring sensation Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista clashes with WBO super bantamweight champion Daniel Ponce De Leon who, in his last fight won a controversial decision over Penalosa.
In the interview Pe?alosa talks about his upcoming fight, the chances of Bautista and also talks about Manny Pacquiao.
In Sunday’s featured fight Allanic who has a record of 15-3 with 7 knockouts faces the veteran Jae Bong Kim who returned to the ring last March 11 when he scored a second round KO over countryman Dae Yub Jung. In his last fight prior to his comeback Kim scored a unanimous ten round decision over Filipino Roy Clave on May 24, 1998. The Korean’s most impressive win during his career was the ninth round TKO over former world title challenger Pretty Boy Lucas on February 20, 1995.
