NBA -- Hornets nip Knicks to stay unbeaten

CHARLOTTE -- The Charlotte Hornets kept their unbeaten streak alive in this preseason by beating the visiting New York Knicks, 97-93, on Saturday night at the Time Warner Cable Arena.
Al "Big Al" Jefferson topscored with 12 points for the Hornets, who improved to 5-0 in the exhibition season. Highly-touted rookie Frank Kaminsky III finished with 11 points and eight rebounds while Kemba Walker and Jeremy Lamb each had 10 for Charlotte.
Cleanthony Early led the Knicks with 17 points and four boards and Langston Galloway added 15 markers and six dimes. Derrick Williams had 14 and Lou Amundson 12 as New York fell to 4-1.
Charlotte made 38 of 83 field goals (45.8 percent) and 5-of-16 from 3-point range (31.2 percent). The Hornets also converted 16 of 24 free throws. New York, which sat out star Carmelo Anthony, shot 44.8 percent from the field but was outrebounded 50-38.
