But the DA said if I went in and got my GED and showed I was doing the right things he would reduce my sentence. So I joined the prison boxing team and began to fight. Some of the fights were against Lifers -- who were never getting out of prison and who were the toughest fighters of all. They had nothing to lose. I was able to beat them. "It was my mother who went to the D.A. to tell him I was doing good and was turning my life around. He came to see me and I was eventually let out of prison. "I fought as an amateur and got a big win over future world champions Demetrius Andrade, Jessie Vargas and Danny Garcia. "I've been waiting for a big network fight and now we have it on truTV. I know the importance of it. It will take me only a round or two to figure out Ray Serrano. I will box him, counter, mix it up, show my skills.
