STATE OF ORIGIN SHOWDOWN: Hilt vs Davis signed for October 31

PhilBoxing.com

Jamie Hilt vs Richard Davis signed for October 31
Jamie Hilt ready for pro fight number two on TGW & Smithy Bring the Big Fights 11.

IT WILL BE A STATE OF ORIGIN BATTLE when Toowoomba's Jamie Hilt takes on Kempsey's Richard Davis in a four round welter weight bout on October 31.

Hilt was very impressive in his debut unanimous points win over Junior Ese in June.

"Jamie turned a lot of heads in his pro debut," promoter Brendon Smith said.

"He fought a tough opponent Junior Ese and he did it in good fashion.

"Jamie is very popular and I'm sure he will have plenty of support on the night.

"Richard Davie comes from a good camp and I have no doubt he'll acquit himself very well against Jamie," Smith said.

Richard Davis will be making his professional debut after a highly successful amateur career which netted ten wins from fourteen bouts.

Davis is trained by the well respected George Ptolemy and is a cousin of current IBO International super middleweight champion Renold Quinlan.

"I'm excited to make my debut on this great card," Davis said.

"I've been counting down the days to turn professional and now I have my chance.

"I realise Jamie Hilt will be a tough opponent - but I have faith in my ability to get the job done.

"It's a long way from Kempsey to Toowoomba - so I'm not coming to lose," Davis said.

Jamie Hilt's trainer Craig Monagle is excited about Hilt stepping back into the ring for his second pro bout.

"I've always had a wrap on Jamie, he's a great boxer," Monagle said.

"We started with a corporate bout which he won impressively, then he was equally impressive in his pro debut and I expect him to take another step forward on October 31.

"We've had a great preparation and Jamie will peak on the night.

"We respect Richard Davis and know we have a formidable task in front of us but I'm confident Jamie can earn his second victory as a pro," Monagle said.

It will be a busy night for Craig Monagle and his Trading Blows team. Kris George and Kyle Teer will also be in action on the pro card while the team will also have a strong contingent of amateurs competing in the Brayd Smith Cup city vs country challenge.
