NBA Global Games Features Six NBA Teams Playing Seven Games in Six Countries

NEW YORK ? NBA Global Games 2015-16 will tip off Oct. 6 with five international preseason games, followed by two regular-season games in December and January. Overall, six NBA teams will play seven games in seven cities in six countries as the league continues to bring the NBA experience to fans around the world.

Marcus Smart and the 17-time NBA Champion Boston Celtics will tip off NBA Global Games 2015-16 against three-time Euroleague and 26-time Italian League Champion Olimpia Milano at the Mediolanum Forum in Milan Oct. 6. Two of the most decorated franchises in basketball history will then meet when the Celtics play nine-time Euroleague and 32-time Spanish League Champion Real Madrid at the Barclaycard Center in Madrid Oct. 8.

The L.A. Clippers, led by five-time All-Star Blake Griffin and eight-time All-Star Chris Paul, and the Charlotte Hornets, led by Kemba Walker, will play the NBA?s first game in Shenzhen, China when they meet Oct. 11 at Shenzhen Universiade Center, followed by a rematch at Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai Oct. 14. Following NBA Global Games China 2015, the NBA will have played 20 games in Greater China since 2004.

Victor Oladipo and the Orlando Magic will face Flamengo, the current champion of the Brazilian Pro-Basketball Tournament (Novo Basquete Brasil - NBB), at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro Oct. 17, marking the third consecutive year the league will play a Global Game in Brazil.

NBA Global Games 2015-16 will conclude with two regular-season games: the Celtics and Sacramento Kings, led by 2015 All-Star DeMarcus Cousins, will play Dec. 3 at Mexico City Arena in Mexico City, and the Toronto Raptors, led by 2015 All-Star Kyle Lowry, and Magic will meet Jan. 14 at The O2 in London.

Preseason NBA Global Games will air live on NBA TV and NBA LEAGUE PASS International, reaching fans in more than 200 countries and territories around the world.

More than 30 marketing and promotional partners will support preseason NBA Global Games, including presenting partners BBVA (Madrid), Oi (Rio) and Master Kong (Shenzhen and Shanghai), as well as 47 television, radio and digital partners.

Preseason NBA Global Games will include five NBA Cares events designed to positively impact the local communities. The Celtics will host a Jr. NBA Special Olympics Clinic in Milan Oct. 3 and an NBA Cares Special Olympics Unified Basketball Clinic in partnership with BBVA Compass in Madrid Oct. 7.

On Oct. 10, the Hornets will help dedicate an NBA Cares Learn and Play Center at the Jialian School in Shenzhen in partnership with Master Kong, Dongfeng Nissan and SAP. On Oct. 12, the Clippers will host an NBA Cares Basketball Clinic for 60 youth in Shanghai in partnership with Master Kong, Dongfeng Nissan and the Shanghai Sports Bureau.

On Oct. 15 in Rio de Janeiro, players from the Magic and Flamengo will unveil a newly refurbished court at Escola Municipal Santos Anjos and lead 60 students through an NBA Cares Clinic.

The NBA is conducting a series of interactive fan events around the preseason NBA Global Games, including NBA Fan Zone Milan held Oct. 3-4 at Arca Della Pace, NBA Fan Zone Madrid held Oct. 3-4 at Explanada del Puente del Rey, a fourth consecutive Fan Appreciation Day in Shanghai Oct. 13 at the Oriental Sports Center, and NBA Fan Zone Brazil Oct. 16-18 on Ipanema Beach.

Twenty-four international players are currently on the rosters of NBA teams participating in NBA Global Games 2015-16.
