Vacant UBF Intercontinental title now up for grabs when Gingras, Camacho square off Friday

PhilBoxing.com

LINCOLN, R.I. (Sept. 17th, 2015) -- A fight that needed no boost in promotion or hype received a minor facelift Wednesday when CES Boxing announced Rich Gingras and Angel Camacho Jr. will now fight for the vacant Universal Boxing Federation (UBF) Intercontinental Light Heavyweight Title in addition to Gingras' New England Title Friday night at Twin River Casino.
The event, titled "Mayhem," features seven fights, including another UBF title bout between undefeated Khiary Gray (8-0, 6 KOs) of Worcester, Mass., and Kenton Sippio-Cook (6-2, 4 KOs) of Austin, Tex., who square off for the vacant Northeast Junior Middleweight Title in the six-round co-feature.

"This is definitely the toughest fight of my career," said the undefeated Camacho Jr. of Providence, now 14-0 with 4 KOs. "I've had a couple of layoffs in my career, but I'm back and ready for this challenge. Rich is a worthy opponent."

Added Gingras, the reigning N.E. champ from Lincoln: "He's going to learn a lot about himself that night. We both will."

Fellow Rhode Island native and undefeated former junior middleweight world champion Demetrius Andrade, who returns to the ring Oct. 17th, recalls sparring with both Gingras and Camacho Jr. and noted their contrasting styles.

"I have a lot of respect for both guys," Andrade said. "When I spar Rich, I know I have to be ready to let my hands go and punch, and when I spar Angel, I know I have to come forward and move."

Tickets for "Mayhem" are priced at $40.00, $100.00 and $125.00 (VIP) and available for purchase online at www.cesboxing.com or www.twinriver.com, by phone at 401-724-2253/2254 or at the Twin River Players Club. All fights and fighters are subject to change.

The undercard features several new faces, highlighted by Stoughton, Mass., junior welterweight Travis Demko (3-0, 1 KO), who makes his Rhode Island debut against Mohamed Allam (1-0) of Holyoke, Mass., followed by Worcester junior middleweight Andy Gonzalez (1-0, 1 KO), who battles Gloucester, Mass., vet Pedro Gonzalez (2-2, 1 KO). Both are four-round bouts.

In an added bonus, New London, Conn., heavyweight Cassius Chaney (3-0, 2 KOs), a former two-time amateur national champion, makes his Twin River debut against Alando Pugh (1-5-1, 1 KO) of Washington, D.C., in a four-round bout and undefeated Cranston, R.I., welterweight Nick DeLomba (8-0, 2 KOs) returns from his biggest win in July to face the undefeated Gledwin Ortiz (2-0, 2 KOs) of the Bronx in a six-round bout. Framingham, Mass., junior welterweight Julio Perez (1-0) faces newcomer Pedro Martinez Jr. of Mooresville, N.C., in a four-round bout.
