28th Annual WBO Convention lands in Orlando, Florida PhilBoxing.com Fri, 11 Sep 2015  San Juan, Puerto Rico - The twenty-eighth Annual World Boxing Organization (WBO) Convention will take place from Monday, October 26 through Friday, October 30, 2015 at the fabulous Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista, just steps from the Downtown Disney Area, in Orlando, Florida. ?The WBO is proud to carry the mantle of being, ?MORE THAN JUST BOXING,? and as such, this year?s convention theme reflects the importance of having an organizational mission that extends beyond the ring, as we strive to impact as many communities in need as we can through our WBO Kids Drug Free Program,? explained WBO President Francisco ?Paco? Valcarcel. The 28th Annual WBO Convention will feature intensive training sessions for all of the organization?s officials, including judges, referees, doctors and supervisors? because the quality and preparedness of ring officials has a bearing on the outcome of fights and in recognition of the importance of accountability in boxing. Also, this year?s meeting will be a forum to discuss current topics of interest in the boxing world, including championship ratings, world championship regulations, instant replay, fight appeals and reviews, as well developments related to the application of laws that serve to protect boxers and enhance the sport. ?This year has seen a lot of discussion regarding the federal statutes that regulate boxing and ensure fair competition, including the Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act and the Sherman Act. We are proud to have highlighted many of these issues during our convention last year in Las Vegas, and will continue this in-depth conversation in Orlando,? added Valcarcel. This latest edition of the WBO Convention will feature the usual presence and participation of current WBO World Champions, former champions, contenders, prospects, trainers, managers, promoters, as well the perennial WBO Golf Tournament, with the participation of important personalities.
