VILORIA?S TRAINING CAMP PROCEEDING SMOOTHLY PhilBoxing.com Sun, 06 Sep 2015 ![]() The manager of two division world champion Brian Viloria says Brian?s training camp is ?proceeding smoothly.? Gary Gittelsohn informed the New Standard/boxingmirror.com that besides everything going well in training camp at the Wild Card Gym of Hall-of-Fame trainer Freddie Roach, ?Brian is in great form. His spirits are high and he is as confident as ever about the challenge? against undefeated World Boxing Council flyweight champion Roman Gonzalez of Nicaragua at New York?s famed Madison Square Garden on October 17. Viloria himself earlier claimed in a conversation with us that Gonzalez who is ranked No. 2 in the Ring Magazine pound for pound roster had been avoiding him for the past two years and he is happy that the title fight has finally been made. Gittelsohn predicts the fight ?should be a real barn burner!? Ruben Gomez, a longtime friend and sometime trainer of Viloria requested us for the phone number of ALA Gym?s head trainer Edito ?Ala? Villamor so he could coordinate the planned sparring between Viloria and WBO light flyweight champion Donnie ?Ahas? Nietes which should help both fighters since Nietes will also defend his world title in a breakthrough promotion of ALA Promotions at the StubHub Center in Carson City on October 17. Villamor told us while the Pagara brothers Jason and Prince Albert and Mark ?Magnifico? Magsayo worked out at the ALA Gym along Balete Drive in Quezon City on Saturday, that Nietes is waiting for his US visa and is expected to fly to Los Angeles by the middle of the month where the ALA fighters will hookup with well-known strength and conditioning coach Nick Curson. The Pagara brothers and Magsayo will leave with Villamor for Los Angeles on Sunday via Philippine Airlines and will almost immediately buckle down to training at the Wild Card Gym where Viloria also trains under the supervision of Roach and his Filipino assistant Marvin Somodio among others. The Pagara brothers and Magsayo told us they like working with Curson and believe their strength and conditioning regimen is a plus in building their power, speed and stamina and overall explosiveness. ![]() |
