CHINA CHALLENGE FOR HERMINATOR

PhilBoxing.com

ENE-PURCELL READY TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION IN CHINA
Heavyweight Herman Ene-Purcell and his team fly out for China this weekend.

HERMAN ENE-PURCELL FLIES out of Australia this Saturday as a relative unknown in China, but that could all quickly change. The local heavyweight fights in Hangzhou, China on September 11 on a card promoted by the legandary Liu Gang. The card is broadcast to over eighty million television viewers.

Ene-Purcell will take on Isaraphap Sor Varunee in a 6 round contest.

"This is an unbelievable opportunity for me," Ene Purcell said.

"A big thanks to Mr Liu Gang and Brendon Smith for making this possible.

"I was very humbled after meeting Mr Liu Gang in Toowoomba in June and for him to invite me to China to fight on one of his shows.

"I promise to make the most of this chance.

"I've had a great training camp with Steven Spark and Brendon Smith and now it's up to me to perform.

"It will be unbelievable to fight in front of a packed crowd and with an amazing television audience as well.

"I've seen the pictures of the billboards over there and the fight poster and the venue. (pictures below)

"It looks amazing.

"I will do all I can to make a big impression.

"Two and a half years ago I moved to Australia to pursue rugby league but instead I found the boxing ring.

"Who would've thought I would be in this position to fight in front of millions of people in China," Ene-Purcell said.

Herman Ene-Purcell's bout is one of three put together on this Hangzhou card by Brendon Smith and Liu Gang.

Englishman Andrew Wallace who is now based in Melbourne, is currently in Toowoomba and will fly out with the Smithy's TGW team on Saturday, is scheduled to face undefeated Thai Kaewfah Sor Varunee for the WBC lightweight Asian Boxing Council title.

Rounding out the trio of fights promoted by Gang and Smith - Indonesia's Hero Tito will fight Hurricane Futa in a six round light weigh contest.

"It's always a pleasure to work with someone like Liu Gang," Brendon Smith said.

"His shows are as good as anything I've been a part of in Vegas or anywhere in the World.

"We have a great little team heading over in Andrew Wallace, Hero Tito and Herman Ene-Purcell.

"All three will work with our training team of myself Steven Spark and John Geiger.

"Andrew Wallace has arrived in Toowoomba in great shape and is credit to his trainer in Melbourne Chris Carman.

"Hero will fly from Indonesia and meet us in China.

"We all know what Hero is capable of after his performance against Jack Asis in Toowoomba in June.

"Another great thing about this trip Liu Gang has asked our ring announcer James O'Shea to be the english speaking announcer for this show.

"James will be involved in the press conferences and on the big night.

"It will be great to hear a familiar voice on the microphone.

"It's a big opportunity for James as well and I'm sure he will show China why I rate him the best ring announcer in Australia," Smith said.
