PhilBoxing.com

Touching moment as Smithy's TGW Gym fighters don their orange graveside with Brayd.

A huge part of the preparation for TGW & Smithy Bring the big fight's 10 has been 'honouring Brayd.' Just three days out from their big fights the team once again stood united at the Pittsworth cemetery.

"This is a really special and emotional moment for us," Will Young said. Young has quickly become the 'unofficial' captain of the Smithy's TGW Team, a role Brayd held until the day of his passing.

"We all miss Brayd so much, this has been an emotional training camp for us, everyone knows that.

"Today is something we all wanted to do, we all wanted to see Brayd before our fights.

"We will all carry his spirit into the ring with us on Saturday night.

"It's been said many times but i'll say it again - we're all brothers in arms, standing side by side united with hearts of gold - in memory of Brayd Smith.

"Saturday night we will fight out of the orange corner with pride.

"We will fight like Brayd did - with heart, with passion and with respect.

"Just like Brayd always did - we will be humble winners or if we happen to be beaten we will be gracious losers." Young said.

Today all of the Smithy's TGW Gym fighters proudly stood with their trainers, families, friends and support staff.

The centre of there attention the new headstone which sits upon the grave of Braydon Smith.

"It's beautiful," Will Young said.

"It's very fitting for a person of Brayd's stature.

"We are also so lucky to have the people we have around us.

"The support has been incredible.

"Behind closed doors no one really knows what people like Brendon Smith, Steven Spark and Bert Hornery do for us.

"Especially Bertie, he's the real unsong hero of everything we do at Smithy's TGW Gym.

"He's just got a heart of gold and I know I speak on behalf of everyone we couldn't do what we do without Bertie."

The fighters are in their final preparations for Saturday night.

"We're spot on," Steven Spark said.

"Tomorrow our boys will see their opponents face to face for the first time at out 12pm press conference at the Irish Club Hotel, then Friday it's weigh in day and Saturday it's showtime.

"I know today being out here and seeing Brayd will give our guys a boost.

"I know they'll have an angel on their shoulders for this one.

"It'll be a very special night."
