BAGO CITY, Negros Occidental ? Bago City-hailed Junel Cantancio and Rogen Lagon, who both won gold and silver medals, respectively, in the recently-concluded 28th Southeast Asian Games in Singapore get cash incentives from the City Government of Bago.
Cantancio ruled over Vietnam?s Van Hai Nguyen, 2-0 in the men?s lightweight finals while, Ladon bowed to his Indonesian rival Kornelis Kwangu Langu, 2-1.
The resolution filed by Councilor Donald Alvarez was unanimously approved by the members of the Sangguniang Panlunsod during Thursday?s regular session.
Based on Resolution 15-160, both boxers brought honor and pride to the Bago City and should accordingly recognize and rewarded. And after thorough deliberation by the members of the council, Bago City-born coaches Velasco siblings, Nonito and Roel, as well as Mitchell Martinez were included to those who will get cash incentives from the city.
The resolution, duly signed by VM Nicolas Yulo, stated that both Cantancio and Ladon will receive P20,000 each while, the mentioned coaches get P5,000 apiece.(WATCHMEN DAILY JOURNAL)
