Richard Slone Paints Manny Pacquiao By Dong Secuya PhilBoxing.com Fri, 25 May 2007  Pacquiao portrait by Richard Slone. Highly sought after British artist Richard Slone has been recently commissioned by the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) to paint a portrait of Manny Pacquiao to grace the cover of the Programme for this year's BWAA Annual Boxing Award to be held in New York on June 8. Pacquiao is this year's BWAA top awardee as 'Fighter of the Year'. The original painting measures 16" x 20" Acrylic on Board and depicts Pacquiao in his charateristic southpaw pose with a bloody and fiery motif. Slone have painted portraits of many famous boxing and non-boxing personalities including Muhammad Ali, Lenox Lewis, Oscar de la Hoya, Donald Trump, Hugh Heifner, Glenn Schaeffer and Nelson Mandela. Slone's boxing related portraits and paintings have graced the cover of Ring Magazine, KO Magazine, World Boxing Magazine, among others. Slone is the official artist of the Boxing Hall of Fame (BHOF). The 32-year-old Slone's love and inclination to do boxing-related paintings was due to the fact the Slone himself had been a boxer. Slone was guided in his boxing career by the great Smokin' Joe Frazier until Slone himself decided to work away from the ring canvas onto the painting canvas. Richard Slone has been hailed by Evening Mail newspaper as "the next great artist" and compared by HBO's Emmanuel Steward to legendary American artist LeRoy Neiman. "He and LeRoy are the best artists in the world -- and I’ve never seen anyone capture the likeness that Slone captures in his work," according to Steward.  Artist Richard T.
