FUTURE STARS KATZ & RICE GO HEAD TO HEAD

PhilBoxing.com

RICE HEATS UP FOR COOL KAT

Undefeated young guns Brent Rice and James Katz go head to head in the Garden City on June 27.

TWO OF AUSTRALIA'S HOTTEST YOUNG PROSPECTS Brent Rice and Queensland champion James 'Cool As' Katz will put their undefeated records on the line in a 4 round light weight show down on the star studded TGW & Smithy bring the big fight's 10 card.

Both boys were amateur stars and both have made an impressive start in the pro ranks.

In the amateur ranks both achieved State and National titles as well as golden gloves success. They even faced each other with Katz claiming a one point victory.

In the pro's both are undefeated. Katiz is 3-0 and Rice is 1-0.

"These two boys could very well be the next wave of stars in our country," promoter Brendon Smith said.

"This is just another really good domestic fight we've got on this very special card.

"Katz hails from the strong Steven Ng gym while Brent is a fan favourite on the Downs trained by his father Bobby.

"This is two young men, undefeated - climbing the ladder and now we put them together for what promises to be a landmark bout in their respective careers.

"You will see two stars of the future in Brent Rice and James Katz on June 27.

Brent Rice has been on a high since his ultra impressive debut earlier in the year when he bulldozed Beau Callaghan in the first round. However Rice is under no illusions - James Katz will be a much sterner test.

"I'm very excited for this fight, i know James is a pressure fighter and will be walking up all night but I'm confident in my fitness and ability to fight smart," Brent Rice said.

"It's going to be a great fight on a prestigious night and I'm looking forward to doing it in front of Toowoomba.

"Katz scored a one point win over me in the amateurs in a fight I felt I clearly won but that's in the past.

"Hopefully I can take it out of the judges hands this time."
Brent's father and trainer Bobby added: "This fight will have plenty interest around it.

"James is a good pressure fighter and we are really looking forward to the challenge.

"We will be ready."

James Katz has a distinct advantage over Rice when it comes to pro experience. He's 3-0, among his wins - a Queensland title victory over Kyle Teer.

"I am excited to be stepping back in the ring after 10 months off," Katz said.

"This fight will show to the audience exactly why my style is more suited to the professionals than the amateurs.

"Most importantly the fight will be entertaining, it'll be a classic pressure fighter meets boxer showdown.

Katz trainer Steven Ng added: "We respect the boxing skills of Brent Rice so we will have to be at our best over 4 rounds.
"Either way Brent will know he has been in a fight!" Ng said.
