HAYMON THE TERMINATOR IS DESTROYING MEXICAN BOXING

PhilBoxing.com

GREED, DECEPTION AND MISMANAGEMENT

Greed (Latin, De avaritia), it is the thirst or immoderate desire to possess wealth, property or objects of abstract value with, far beyond the quantities required for basic survival and personal comfort. You will apply the term to an excessive desire to the pursuit of wealth, status and power.

Sadness and anger were the reactions of many Mexican fans after seeing the crushing defeat of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr at the hands of Andrzej Fonfara; a tremendous beating at the hands of a Polish fighter who was superior in weight and quality -- but the details that no one seems to care are that his new business team led by Sam Watson, who is the right hand man of Al Haymon, celebrated frantically the victory of Fonfara. Incredible fact but true. Isn?t Chavez Jr one of the new stars of the Haymon banner?

Chavez was only surrounded by his relatives and abandoned by the group that now basically ruined his career by making this erroneous business move and practically puts Jr. in the morgue as far as his credibility as a fighter is concerned.

To make matters worse, the ratings of the Chavez-Fonfara fight threw disastrous numbers for Julito?s Showtime debut as it only garnered 650,000 viewers who tuned in to watch the gladiator of Culiacan in contrast to The War held the same night at the same time between Matthysse and Provodnikov which made extraordinary numbers. More than 1,250,000 saw the Argentine and the Russian exchanged blows in the HBO telecast.

Bob Arum vigorously manifested after Julio?s defeat, "I'm not necessarily happy with the defeat of Chavez, because, you know, what we built in eight or nine years, Fu?%* Haymon destroyed it in one night." said the legendary promoter to an American writer. Arum ended on bad terms his company's relationship with Chavez Carrasco.

The destruction is not only limited to Chavez Jr. There is more shame to see in what has happened with Mexican boxing in recent months: deception, greed, mediocrity, mismanagement, lack of sensitivity and apparently there is a strong intention to exterminate the Mexican fighters, to take them out of the business of boxing.

Who is this character who is taking Azteca boxing to the grave?

Al Haymon is the man, 'obscure and ill-intentioned' according to the words of many insiders of boxing who refused give out their names. They already expressed their disgust with the current situation regarding the hispanic and specially Mexican boxing at the hands of Haymon and his crew. Not only is Al no longer revered as he was in the past, but he is now feared. It?s becoming familiar in the Latin boxing community that Richard Schaefer (who is basically involved behind the scenes) and Haymon are making Mexicans and Mexican-Americans as a stepping stone to built the careers of boxers from their own stable.

The Mexican top pugilists have been the victims, but also are victims of their own ambitions. Haymon and his company PBC have made juicy money offers that are dangerous at the end of the road. In other words they sell their titles, pride and honor to someone who is supposed to be their advisor and act in their best interest, but the bad results are out there.

It all began with Miguel Vazquez who virtually sold his title to Haymon to crown one of his top pugiliss in Mickey Bey in September of 2014.

John Molina was overwhelmed and handed over to Adrien Broner.

Josesito Lopez was used to resurrect the career of Andre Berto.

Jhonny Gonzalez was baited to be brutally beaten by Gary Russell.

Robert Guerrero who had its golden era with Golden Boy Promotions was used to build the record of one of the promising boxers of Haymon, welterweight beltholder Keith Thurman.

So, now who is next? Abner Mares? Leo Santa Cruz? That is the most likely scenario and it is almost certain that those two or at least one of them will be thrown into the lions.

These fighters are unprotected, ill-advised and they don?t seem to realize what is going on, but the fans and the people of the boxing industry are beginning to complain about this unpleasant fact.

There isn?t even seem to be a matchmaking team in the company Premier Boxing Champions. Matchamaking is the base for manufacturing champions, for example, Top Rank has the legendary Bruce Trampler, Golden Boy Promotions has Eric Gomez and Robert Diaz. Without the art and the work of the matchmakers the stars in boxing would not exist.

The company Premier Boxing Champions doesn?t seem interested in this or at least they are not in interested in the Hispanic, Mexican or Mexican American pugilists. For many years the Latinos have been the basis of the international boxing, the Mexican and Hispanic fans are the ones that purchase the PPV, they fill out the stadiums, basically they keep alive the business of boxing.

Sources close to the situation seriously regret what is happening with our sport, Haymon and his clan want to make a monopoly and they want to use and abuse of the Mexican fighters or so it seems with their actions,

They use the Mexican talent to build the records of their stable of fighters. The boxers are beginning to open the eyes even if sometimes the gold is bright and the money offers seem irresistible. If this will continue to happen, our sport will be buried by the intentions of the man who, instead of making boxing grow in every department, is leading our beautiful and savage sport to the grave and taking Mexican and Hispanic boxing to its extinction.
