ARIZA ISN?T BOTHERED BY FLOYD MAYWEATHER SR?S TIRADE

PhilBoxing.com

Well known but sometimes controversial strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza who is working with undefeated pound for pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr, isn?t bothered by the tirade against him by Floyd Mayweather Sr, the father and trainer of the WBC/WBA welterweight champion.

Ariza told the New Standard/boxingmirror.com that Floyd had told him not to mind his dad.

A guest on the popular radio show ?On the Ropes? hosted by Jenna J. Mayweather Sr reacted strongly when asked whether Ariza participates in strengthening Floyd.

A seemingly incredulous Mayweather Sr said ?Strengthening him? That SOB ain?t strengthening nobody. He ain?t nobody. He?s in there, I can?t say exactly what he?s doing, but he ain?t strength training little Floyd. What Floyd?s doing, everybody?s helping. It's not just one person.?

Asked whether Ariza being with the undefeated pound for pound No. 1 will help at all in terms of gameplan because he knew Pacquao so well, Mayweayher Sr went off on another tirade against Ariza.

He said, ?he (Ariza) don?t know shit anyways. He don?t know anything about no damn boxing, I do know that.. I know he doesn?t know anything about boxing and he don?t know that to tell anyone anyways.?

Mayweather Sr added, ?if he does know anything, it is some dirty shit and it's something that nobody wants to muse or hear about. Nobody is in to that kind of mess.?

But a video seen by boxingmirror.com during a training session of Mayweather Jr showed him calling Ariza to come over and stand near him and watch as he went through his paces.

It indicated that no matter what his Dad says, Ariza has the confidence of Floyd Mayweather Jr who is close to Ariza and believes in him.

The strength and conditioning coach who worked with eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao when he had an amazing run of success battering Dvid Diaz, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky ?The Hitman? Hatton. Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito said ?I have got a job to do and we are focusing on what we?ve got to do? even as he brushed aside comments from the camp of Pacquiao, principally from trainer Freddie Roach.

Ariza told us that Mayweather is in ?very good shape and we are now on maintaining mode and won?t push it. WE don?t want to over train.?

Ariza said they are focusing right now on Mayweather?s physical condition which he claimed ?is great and Floyd looks phenomenal.?

He said they had given Mayweather a few days off from sparring but continues to run and do other things to maintain his level of preparedness.

Ariza who does have a degree of fondness for Pacquiao and hasn?t bad-mouthed him said ?Manny has always looked good in the gym but he?s doing the same things over and over again. Nothing different? indicating that there is no way Pacquiao can stick to the same routine and hope to beat Mayweather.
