GANOY LOSES BY MAJORITY DECISION IN US NBC TITLE FIGHT

Filipino Ranee ?KO Kid? Ganoy from Cotabato who spent many years in Australia and fought out of that country before moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico has lost in his bid for the US NBC super lightweight title to Josh Torres last Sunday, Manila Time.
The hard-hitting Ganoy who was popular in Australia because of his aggressive style and punching power, lost in a close fight to the 25 year old Torres who improved to 14-3-2 with 6 knockouts while Ganoy who was ten years older at 35 dropped to 36-12-2 with 32 knockouts.
In a post fight interview Torres said ?the plan was to box. Use our jab, use our movement.?
Torres conceded ?we got caught a couple of times. Ganoy?s power was real. He lived up to the hype but we did what we had to do to win.?
While judge Anthony Romero scored the fight even at 95-95 the two other judges Esther Lopez and Ray Chavez had it 96-94 for Torres.
Ganoy lost by a 4th round TKO to an overweight Fernando Angulo in an IBF eliminator for the No. 2 spot in the rankings on December 5, 2008 before he scored 11 straight victories capped by a 6th round TKO over Shawn Gallegos on November 15, 2014.
Torres had earlier won the vacant WBC USNBC welterweight title with an 8th round split decision conquest of Jose Marrufo on August 30, 2014.
