CLAVERAS AIMS TO WIN BY KO OVER WBC CHAMPION GUEVARA
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Fri, 10 Apr 2015

Even though Richard Claveras, the undefeated WBC Asian Boxing Council light flyweight champion is facing WBC champion Pedro Guevara who is clearly at a higher level, Claveras who is ranked No. 26 by the WBC and is fighting abroad for the first time, appears confident of creating a stunning upset.
Claveras who has a record of 12 knockouts in 12 wins with no defeats and draws will battle Guevara for the title in the main event of a card titled ?Viva Mazatlan? at the Multiple Uses Center in Sinaloa, Mexico this Sunday, Manila Time.
The WBC reported that in the countdown to the first defense of his title against Claveras who is nicknamed ?Explosive? both champion and challenger ?showed their armory at a public training session and some verbal barbs flew.?
Claveras said ?I feel strong, fast and accurate. I came with everything I have for conquering the WBC belt but also to get the KO number 13 of my career.?
In a swift response, Guevara said ?the only thing he?s getting from this fight will be marks on his body. Nobody is going to take away the belt from me in front of my own people.?
While Claveras has an impressive record on paper he hasn?t fought any truly worthy opponents unlike Guevara who has battled some of the best light flyweights including IBF champion Johnreil Casimero to whom he lost by a split decision.
Guevara has a record of 24 wins against only 1 loss and 1 draw with 16 wins coming by way of knockouts.
