NBA -- Spurs pummel OKC, win 8th straight
By Homer D. Sayson PhilBoxing.com Thu, 09 Apr 2015

CHICAGO -- With the playoffs in sight, the defending champion San Antonio Spurs are flexing their muscles for another deep post-season run.
Led by Kawhi Leonard's 26 points, six Spurs scored in double figures and San Antonio rolled past the OKC Thunder, 113-88, on Tuesday night at the Chesapeake Energy Arena.
Tim Duncan and Marco Belinelli each had 12, Manu Ginobili, Aron Bynes and Patty Mills finished with 10 apiece and the Spurs increased their winning streak to eight games, burnishing their record to 52-26.
The Spurs defense held the Thunder to 10 first-quarter offense, while their offense jumped to a 35-10 lead. OKC made a run at it but the hole proved too deep to dig out of.
San Antonio shot 52.8 percent from the field (47 of 89) and made 41.7 percent from 3-point range (10 of 24). OKC, on the other hand, shot just 40.5 percent from the field (34 of 84) and 26.3 percent from beyond the arc (5 of 19).
With six games left n the regular season, the Spurs still have a got shot at finishing as the No.2 seed in the tightly-contested Western Conference.
The 42-36 Thunder, meanwhile, dropped out of the playoffs picture and now trail the 42-35 New Orleans Pelicans by a half-game for the final playoffs berth in the West.
Russell Westbrook led the Thunder with 17 points. Jeremy Lamb had 11 while Dion Waiters and Perry Jones chipped in 10 apiece.
