"On May 5th the whole world will be watching the biggest fight of my career. I will defend my WBC super welterweight title against the Pound for Pound best fighter in the world, Floyd Mayweather Jr.," De la Hoya said in his letter to Rudy Salud. "As one of the founding fathers of the WBC, and one of the most influential boxing authorities in the Philippines, I would like to personally commend you in your extraordinary career.
