NBA -- Hornets keep on buzzing, beat Raptors, 103-94 By Eric Biasbas PhilBoxing.com Sun, 08 Mar 2015 ![]() CHARLOTTE -- The sold out crowd at the Time Warner Cable Arena was treated to a delightful Friday evening as their home team, the Charlotte Hornets disposed the visiting Toronto Raptors rather handily, 103-94. The Hornets never trailed on this one and led by as many as 19 points. They also dominated the boards 56-32. Al Jefferson was unstoppable in the shaded area and finished with 23 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for his 19th double-double of the season. Mo Williams continued his aggressive play and scored 23 points including four 3- pointers. Raptor DeMar DaRozan almost singlehandedly tried to rally his team in the third quarter scoring, 16 of his team high 30 points, but his efforts were not enough to stop the Raptors from losing to the Hornets in eight consecutive games. As the Raptors closed the gap at 67-68, Williams came up with another key basket, drilling a 3 pointer to stop the uprising. The Hornets then pulled away in the fourth quarter by holding the Raptors scoreless for five minutes. Al Jefferson praise his new teammate and old buddy Mo Williams. " He's a playmaker. When we get him going, he helps us big time. We're going to need him down the stretch, especially in the playoffs". Kyle Lowry, who had 25 points in his first game after missing the previous three because of dislocated fingers said of his team woes said " our communication and reaction has to be quicker. We need to find ways to make stops." The game was marred by six technicals and one flagrant foul. Tempers flared in the third quarter where Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Jonas Valanciunas had to be separated. Two minutes later, Gerald Henderson and Terrence Jones were assessed technical foul each while bumping and jockeying for position. James Johnson and Lance Stephenson were called separate technicals in the fourth period, while Lowry was called for flagrant foul for shoving Stephenson. Williams said "It's a chippy game. They got physical, obviously, we won't back down. That's what I like about this team, we got some resilience. I thought we did a good job of keeping our composure." The win moved the Hornets (27-33) to seventh spot in the Eastern Conference while the Raptors (38-24) stayed in third place in the East.
