PACQUIAO: "I LOVE BEING THE UNDERDOG" By Aquiles Z. Zonio PhilBoxing.com Sun, 22 Feb 2015 GENERAL SANTOS CITY ? World eight-division boxing champion & WBO Welterweight king Manny Pacquiao was very relaxed and composed when he went down from his bedroom a few hours after undefeated American boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr. made public that the fight is on. When asked how does he feel, Pacquiao said ?Nothing. This is just like any other fight I had before.? Pacquiao, however, admitted he is excited to start training. The Pinoy ring superstar said he?s going to prepare hard for this fight. Pacquiao?s tentative date to fly to the US is on February 28. The boxer-lawmaker was informed Saturday noon that in just 15 minutes all the tickets worth US$1000 to US$5000 for the May 2 fight in MGM Grand was already sold out. ?So I expect that the cost of tickets for this fight would go as high as US$10,000 to US$15,000 as the scheduled showdown get?s nearer,? he said. According to him, pay-per-view would be pegged as much as US$100 per buy. He further revealed that they would be using an 8-ounce gloves for this megafight. He claimed this would be a unification bout with the WBC, WBA & WBO welterweight crowns at stake. The boxing legend started his light training Saturday morning by going 30 rounds on a sprint around his covered court just beside his mansion here. In the afternoon, he spent two rounds in shadow boxing and punch mitts with one of his training assistants, Nonoy Neri. Then he spent three minutes pounding the heavy bag, three minutes on double end bag and another three minutes on skipping rope. He?s not at all bothered being the underdog in this fight. ?I?d been in this kind of situation many times in my previous fightS. It doesn?t scare me. I love being the underdog. It even motivates me to train hard and go for the crown,? he said. He said he?s going to prove to Mayweather that watching him fight on screen is much different than trading punches with him atop the ring. /By Aquiles Z.
