ALL SET FOR PACQUIAO`S TWIN KILLINGS By Hermie Rivera PhilBoxing.com Fri, 20 Apr 2007 After a brief respite from the fight scene, allow me to resume my watch on our hard-punching Manny Pacquiao--this after his smashing demolition of Mexican Jorge Solis at San Antonio's Alamodome. Pacquiao's training regimen at Holywood's Wild Card gym turned out very well what with deputy trainors Justin Fortune, Buboy Fernandez and Nonoy Neri providing commendable performance despite the absence of chief trainer Freddie Roach who eventually called the shots that resulted in an 8th round knockout of the gutsy Solis of Guadalajara. Exacting dominant performance from his sparring mates, Manny did hang a tidy loss to the unbeaten Solis-- claims to the contrary by his henchmen--notwithstanding. Quite a convincing display of the Pacman's fire power, that virtually enhanced his bid for a congressioanl seat in the first district of South Cotabato. Solis is as good every bit of the hype that surrounded him when it was announced that he's the genuine article-- until he came face to face with the hard-hitting GenSan mauler during their first media encounter at an L.A.gymnasium. "Solis with his undefeated slate had us a bit perplexed the whole time he's been training. Turns out he ain't as advertized" cried a Pacman lieutenant upon seeing the Mexican wannabe's feeble attempt to unsettle the first term congressional aspirant. Manny Pacquiao, fresh from his memorable scraps felt comfortable not only with his audacious Mexican rival but more adjusted and relaxed on his other scheduled foe---Darlene Custodio, who's defending her political hold in the first district of General Santos, South Cotabato that includes the towns of Polomolok, Tupi and Tampakan. Manny was focused on his fight with Solis, a thriller that regaled most viewers save for Jorge's loyalists . He has started sorting every facet of his new team's strategy for the campaign after taking care (quite handily) of the shootout at the Alamo. `I beat my adversary atop the ring decisively and will administer the same to my political rival at Distrito Uno determinatively,"stressed the Filipino boxing idol before flying home to his well-caring supporters. Seeing what the gifted slugger can do to what he calls his 'twin killings', I've no doubt he'll come out d'winnah---unscathed as usual. None of his boast is big deal' as they say except that we are talking of a campaigner who is odds on to become one of our country's biggest names--- fistically or politically.
