The fights of two Filipino boxers who recently faced tough opponents in Mexico will be featured on Viva Sports top-rating weekly boxing show ?The Main Event? on Pinoy Box Office (PBO) over Sky Cable nationwide at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday with a replay at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.

The WBC International super bantamweight title fight between 34 year old southpaw Jonathan Baat against 27 year old Rodrigo Guerrero will be followed by the much-awaited rematch in the WBC super bantamweight Silver title between 27 year old Silvester Lopez and 24 year old, promising world-rated Rey Vargas.

Vargas who is undefeated with a record of 21-0 with 18 knockouts was dropped in the second round by Lopez in their first clash last March 15 but emerged victorious after Lopez was reportedly forced to retire in the 7th round when he hurt his ankle.

Vargas has disposed of several Filipino challengers including Daniel Ferreras who lost by a 2nd round TKO in a WBC Youth title fight on August 23 last year, Vergel Nebron who lost by a 6th round TKO in a scheduled ten-round bout last June 14, Ernie Sanchez who dropped a ten round unanimous decision on December 21, 2013 and veteran Juanito Rubillar who lost by a 4th round knockout in a scheduled eight round bout on August 24, 2013.

Lopez who entered the ring with a record of 22-8-2 with 16 knockouts lost a twelve round unanimous decision in a WBC International supoer bantamweight title fight vs Alexis Kabore in Burkina Faso last September 5.

Lopez was the main sparring partner of Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire as he prepared for his WBA featherweight super title battle with South Africa?s champion Simpiwe Vetyeka in which Donaire dropped Vetyka once en route to a 5th round unanimous technical decision after referee Luis Pabon ruled that the Filipino couldn?t continue because of a nasty cut suffered during a clash of heads.

The southpaw Baat had a record of 27-5-3 with 13 knockouts when he stepped into the ring for the bout with Rodrigo who had a record of 27-5-1 with 14 knockouts.

Baat, after losing in a WBC Asian Boxing Council title fight against No. 5 ranked Qui Xiao Jun in China by a twelve round unanimous decision on 2014 won his next two fights, scoring a 5th round TKO over Thailand?s Artid Sor Vorapin in Toyoma, Japan on September 28, 2014 and before that scored a unanimous eight round decision over Yubon Kaneyama in Kobe, Japan on July 18, 2014.

Guerrero dropped a twelve round unanimous decision in a fight for the vacant IBF super flyweight title in Kagowa, Japan on September 3, 2013 and then won by a 7th round TKO of Daniel Rosas on February 15n last year followed by another victory in a face off for the vacant WBC International title when Takahiro Shigee retired in round eight on July 26, 2014.
