TRIPLE CHAMPIONSHIP: TUBIERON-MAGALI, WAO-LOPEZ, AOKI-RENGGA RUMBLE FOR WBC/IBF REGIONAL BELTS DEC 28 IN PARA?AQUE, METRO MANILA! By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Wed, 24 Dec 2014 An exciting "TRIPLE CHAMPIONSHIP" fight card this Sunday (Dec 28) at Elorde Sports Complex in Para?aque will be Philippine's final boxing event for 2014 and hardcore boxing fans in Metro Manila can't wait for the thrilling action. In the main event, unbeaten knock out artist "Igorot Warrior" Rex Wao (10-0, 8 KO's) of Benguet's Highland Boxing Stable will make the first defense of his WBC International bantamweight (118 lbs) title against experienced Silvester Lopez (22-9-2, 16 KO's) of the Gabriel "Bebot" Elorde boxing stable. Rex Wao, 24, is no-doubt favorite to retain his green WBC belt in the scheduled 12-rounder. But Silvester Lopez - who comes from a title fight lost in Mexico - is not worried about his opponent's known focus and punching power. His plan is using experience, strategy and boxing skills against the undefeated hard-swinging Wao. Might not be easy to outbox a high-volume puncher as the "Igorot Warrior". But getting back into the winning column is Lopez mission... whatever the price. In the card's co-main event, "The Scorpion" Dennis Tubieron (19-3-1, 8 KO's) from paradisaical Puerto Princesa, Palawan, will exchange heavy artillery against tough Bohole?o Carlo Magali (18-7-2, 9 KO's) for the vacant WBC International Featherweight (126-lbs) strap. Magali, 27, comes from defeating "The Sindangan Technician" Rey Perez in Mandaluyong. Now he targets Tubieron. Will Magali be able to squash "The Scorpion too?" No one wants to lose. Also, in an intriguing international 12-round rumble for the IBF Australasian lightweight (135 lbs) title, tall samurai veteran Tosho Makoto Aoki of Osaka, Japan, will battle younger Indonesian wrrior "Rengga Rengga" Samsul Maarif (7-1, 1 KO). The clash will be Aoki's fourth fight in the Philippines. So far all wins.. and he wants more. Who will win, the more ring savvy Japanese... or the younger Indonesian? There is only one way to find out. Fights begin at: 6pm. Fights matchmaker: Brico L. Santig of La Trinidad Highland Boxing. Production: Gabriel "Bebot" Elorde of Elorde International Productions.
