RANDY SUICO LOSES BY 8TH ROUND TKO IN WBO ASIA PACIFIC TITLE FIGHT

Former WBA world lightweight title challenger and multi-titled Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation champion Randy Suico has lost to WBF middleweight champion Les ?Lock N Load? Sherrington in his bid to win the vacant WBO Asia Pacific middleweight title at the Murray Basketball Stadium in Townsville, Queensland, Australia.

It was the 33 year old Suico?s three defeats in his last four fights as referee Alan Moore stopped the bout in the 8th round.

With the loss Suico dropped to 30-8-1 with 25 knockouts while the 30 year old Sherrington improved to 30-6 with 18 knockouts.

Boxing writer Kevin Farmer of The Chronicle said Sherrington ?has taken a huge leap into the international boxing spotlight? with the win.

The win is also expected to clinch a crucial WBO top ten ranking.

Sherrington and his trainer Brendon Smith are likely to go for another international match-up earl;y next year as they build towards a possible career switch to the lucrative United States boxing market.

Suico, who suffered a 9th round TKO in a WBA weorld lightweight title fight to Juan Diaz on July 15, 2006 and also dropped a controversial twelve round split decision to Mzonke Fana in South Africa in a world title eliminator, may consider hanging up his gloves after a career where he dominated the Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation ranks but fell short of world standards.
