Singapore--- International Master Christian Gian Karlo Arca of Zamboanga City, who completed a remarkable sweep of the Open Under-20 division by winning the individual gold medal in Standard, Rapid and Blitz.

Arca also led the Philippine Open Under-20 team to gold in Standard Chess and Silver Medals in Rapid and Blitz, completing his campaign with six medals - four gold and two silver.

According to the National Chess Federation of the Philippines statement that the championship also produced important achievements for Philippine Chess.

Singapore based FM Arlan Cabe who hails from San Fabian, Pangasinan won the Seniors 50 Standard event and earned the direct International Master title. He became the first Filipino senior player to obtain a direct IM title through the ASEAN + Age-Group Chess Championships.

Iana Angela Sotaridona of Iloilo won the Girls Under-16 Standard event and earned the direct Woman FIDE Master title, subject to reaching the required standard FIDE rating of 1900.

Mar Aviel Caredo of Dasmarinas City, Cavite earned the direct Candidate Master title following his performance in the Open Under -16 Standard event.

Carmelita Abanes of Daet, Camarines Norte, earned a Woman International Master norm in the Women's Senior 50 division. She also won individual gold medals in both the Rapid and Blitz events taking silver in Standard Chess.

PH child prodigy five year old Jodiel Chloe Banawa won all medals, gold in Standard,Rapid and Blitz Individual and gold also in Standard, Rapid and Blitz team.

Banawa was backed up by Mam Gigi Acosta Guerrero and Rotary International District 3310 Assistant Governor, Past President of the Rotary Club of Singapore, and Founder of TWO Family Office , Mr. Tom Wolf.

Team Philippines completed a historic campaign on the 24th ASEAN +Age Group Chess Championships , held from August 7-17, 2026, fielding it's largest delegation ever in the championship , the Philippines finished second in the overall medal standings in a strong field of 672 players.

Across the Standard, Rapid and Blitz events, the Philippines collected 83 medals-24 gold, 36 silver, and 23 bronze.

Vietnam topped the overall medal standings, while India finished third. (Marlon Bernardino)
