Undefeated Philippine superflyweight champion Marco Demecillo Singwangcha (17-0-1, 13 KO's) of the RWS Gym of Cebu will return to his hometown of Iligan City to face unbeaten challenger Marjun Tabamo (8-0-1, 2 KO's) this September 25 at the IIT Gymnasium in Iligan City
Tabamo is trained by former WBC junior lightweight champion Rene Barrientos. His last fight in June ended in a ten round draw against JR Magboo.
Demecillo weighed in at 114.5 lbs while Tabamo tipped the scales at the division limit 115 lbs during the official weigh-in held today.
The power punching Demecillo is on a hot steak, stopping his last four opponents - Nelson Llanos (KO2),Lowie Bantigue (TKO9), Marvin Mabait (TKO3) and Jeffrey Cerna (TKO7). His title win against the previously undefeated Mabait was Demecillo's most significant win so far. Demecillo survived a first round knockdown to dethrone Mabait in Mactan, Cebu last April.
Demecillo is one of the Filipino prospects sponsored by Thai boxing patron Naris Singwangcha.
The fights will be supervised by GAB OIC Vic Cabalog of the Zamboanga field office. This event is presented by the local government of Iligan, Promoter Freddie Siao and Naris and Wakee Promotions.
