The Philippines' Number 1 bantamweight contender, Glenn Porras of North Cotabato, battle No. 4 contender Richard Pumicpic for the vacant bantamweight title Feb. 27 in Davao City.

The championship fight, sanctioned by the Games and Amusements Board, is open to the public and part of the series of big boxing events being staged by ALA Boxing Promotions. it will be an open air event at the Rizal Park beside the Davao Gulf.

The Porras-Pumicpic fight was arranged after No. 2 contender Jethro Pabustan and No. 3 contender Michael Domingo signed waivers saying they are not available for the championship elimination.

The Philippine title was vacated by Marvin Sonsona when he fought for the world championship but lost to Puerto Rico's Wilfredo Gomez.

Porras, 25, belongs to the Braveheart Boxing Club of North Cotabato while Pumicpic, originally from Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte and now fighting out of Laguna.

The left-handed Porras holds a record of 25 wins, 17 KOs and 2 losses while Pumicpic, 20, has a record of 9 wins, 3 losses and 1 draw.
