Philippine superfly champ Eric Barcelona has been voted as the Games and Amusements Board's Boxer of the Month for July following his scintillating win in Japan last month.
The Bukidnon-based Barcelona had knocked out Japanese Hiroshi Nakano in the fourth round last July 10 in Komaki, Japan.
The win improved Barcelona's record to 30 wins, 7 losses, 4 draws with 10 KO's. Up next for him is a showdown with L&M fighter Orland Enriquez on August 20.
Meanwhile, an all-Cebuano battle looms in the miniflyweight and super-featherweight category as the GAB put the top contenders in mandatory status.
RP minifly champ Elmer Gejon will have to face mandatory challenger Rocky Fuentes of the ALA Stable soon.
A more interesting battle-royale shapes up for the recently-vacated RP 130-lb throne as no. 1 Caesar Amonsot finds no. 2 Jimrex Jaca right below him.
