Oppas stepped off the scale at a ready 47.50kg, while Jarurattanachai clocked in just fractions heavier at 47.60kg. The two will go head-to-head over eight three-minute rounds at the Mercure Exhibition Centre, with the prestigious WBC Australasia Minimumweight Gold Title on the line.
Hosted by Peter Maniatis Events, the bout carries career implications: the winner is guaranteed to secure a coveted WBC World minimumweight ranking.
Oppas is riding a wave of confidence into the ring, fresh off a strong recent victory in Melbourne over r Kha Lu. However, he faces a stiff test in Jarurattanachai, a highly skilled and undefeated fighter from Thailand determined to keep his perfect record intact on Australian soil.
Australian Hall of Fame promoter Peter Maniatis emphasized the teamwork required to put together such a high-stakes matchup.
