Ganigan Lopez (C).
Promoter Oswaldo Kuchle has told The Standard that WBC light flyweight champion Ganigan Lopez has a ?waist injury? and that caused his title defense against Filipino mandatory challenger Jonathan Taconing Jr to be postponed to July 2.
Kuchle said World Boxing Council president Mauricio Sulaiman informed him about the injury of Ganigan and he promptly informed Taconing?s manager Johnny Elorde.
Kuchle said on Lopez and Taconing teams ?we are all gentlemen and respect prevails.?
However, Liza Elorde of Taconing?s his management team felt that the postponement may be a tactic to disrupt the training of Taconing who is ready to fight.
