WORLD CUP FIGHTERS TAKE CENTER STAGE THIS WEEK

TOP-NOTCH Filipino boxers have expressed their readiness to prove to the world that the Philippines is the newest hotbed of boxing superstars.

And this week, pinoy boxers led by superbantamweight prospect Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista will be in contact with Philippine boxing fans over Philippine radio from their training camp in Los Angeles, California.

Seven Filipino fighters will do battle against Mexican counterparts in the much-awaited “Boxing World Cup : Mexico vs. Philippines” on August 12 at the Arco Arena in Sacramento, California.

Bautista will try to snatch the world superbantamweight crown from defending champion Daniel Ponce De Leon in a 12-round title bout.

Gerry Penalosa will challenge bantamweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez in another 12-round championship bout while five other Filipino warriors will wage war vs. Mexican prospects to complete the explosive card.

The Filipino boxers will be on air live over “Sports Chat”, a daily morning radio program heard from Monday to Friday (8:15-9AM) over DZSR Sports Radio 918 kHz. It can also be heard live via internet (www.pbs.gov.ph, click sports radio icon).

Fans can now start sending their questions and wishes to Filipino fighters via email (sportschat918@yahoo.com.ph) or the show’s text line (09159877546)
