INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indiana Pacers played a lot of small ball on Tuesday night, a ploy that didn't work out when their 3-point shots didn't fall while their foes outworked them off the boards.
The end result was a 103-94 loss at the hands of the Chicago Bulls at the United Center. Indy fell to 4-2 in this preseason while the victorious Bulls upped their record to 3-4.
The Pacers made only six of 24 shots from 3-point range and were out-rebounded 52-47. They also had seven fewer assists than the Bulls' 22.
"We want to play fast but we're going to use some bigger bodies to counter the rebounding advantage that this team has. They're a dominant rebounding team so it changes a little bit with our spacing in terms of having one less play maker at the thee-point line, but we still want to play with better space and good pace," Pacers head coach told the Indianapolis Star.
Aaron Brooks led the Bulls with 22 while Nikola Mirotic added 15 and seven rebounds for Chicago.
Paul George topscored Indiana with 26 points and 13 rebounds. Ian Mahinmi and Monta Ellis each had 14 and George Hill had 11 points and eight assists.
