The IBF-ordered eliminator for the No. 1 ranking in the junior bantamweight division between the Philippines Mark Anthony Geraldo and Puerto Rico's McJoe Arroyo will take place on December 6 in Puerto Rico. Manny Pacquiao's adviser Michael Koncz who handles MP Promotions told the Manila Standard/Viva Sports from his room at the Cardinal Santos Memorial Hospital where he underwent surgery on two seperate occasions to remove blood clots in his right leg continued to work from the hospital and no sooner had the IBF required the handlers of both fighters to begin negotiations Koncz immediately got to work. He told us Wednesday hours after the news of the IBF decision on the eliminator for the No. 1 spot which will be a battle of southpaws that that he had spoken to the manager of Geraldo, Leonil Lazarito, and that they had "agreed to the terms" for the bout. The 23 year old Geraldo has a record of 31-4-3 with 13 knockouts while Arrooyo, the twin brother of McWilliams Arroyo who earned a title shot at Thai champion Amnat Ruenroeng but lost a split decision after earning the title crack following a 2nd round TKO of previously unbeaten Filipino Froilan "The Sniper" Saludar last June 19, has an unbeaten streak of 15-0 with 8 knockouts. The 28 year old Arroyo, a Puerto Rican Olympian who like Geraldo is also a southpaw, is coming off an 11th round TKO over former WBA flyweight champion Hernan "Tyson" Marquez of Mexico in an IBF elimination bout last June 14. It will be the second eliminator in a row for McJoe Arroyo. Geraldo won the WBO Asia Pacific Youth super flyweight title with a rousing 2nd round TKO over Thailand's Ithanon Sithchamuang on October 26, 2013. Geraldo has won nine fights in a row after dropping a twelve round unanimous decision to Oleydong Sithsamerchai in a clash for the vacant WBC International Silver title with his last bout ending in a six round unanimous decision over Efrain Perez last July 19.
