KONCZ HOSPITALIZED WITH BLOOD CLOTS IN HIS RIGHT LEG By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Wed, 08 Oct 2014 Michael Koncz, the longtime adviser of ?Fighter of the Decade? Manny Pacquiao has been hospitalized with blood clots in his right leg and will undergo a second operation at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday . During a visit to his room at the Cardinal Santos Memorial Hospital in San Juan, Koncz told the Manila Standard/Viva Sports which first broke the news on Tuesday evening that "things didn't go too well in the first operation" and the team of doctors would have to "replace the main artery all the way from the groin to the knee because there was too much damage that they could not fix" in the first operation which began at 7:00 a.m. and after recovery time he returned to his room at 3:00 p.m. Koncz said ?the procedure was to remove a blockage and additional blood clot from the main artery leading to my right leg.? He said ?the damaged area was from the groin area to just above the knee.? He revealed there were "additional clots that were old and had hardened and if they try to clean it there could be a problem." Koncz informed us that an additional "bypass operation needs to be done" on Thursday and that it was "a bigger operation." The adviser was in high spirits and insisted that he had so much to do to make sure about the accommodations and other requirements for trainer Freddie Roach and the fighters who arrived Wednesday morning that he plans to return to General Santos City on Saturday or Sunday. Koncz told the Standard that Pacquiao is "looking good and he's ready" for his WBO welterweight title defense against undefeated light welterweight champion Chris Algieri at a catch-weight of 144 pounds at the plush Cotai Arena at the Venetian Resort Hotel and Casino in Macau on November 22.
