WBC, WBA, IBF LEADERS HOLD SUCCESSFUL MEETING IN CANCUN By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Tue, 24 Jun 2014 The first meeting between the leaders of three of the four premier professional boxing organization at the Oasis Hotel in the picturesque tourist destination of Cancun has successfully discussed several important topics. WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman who initiated the meeting, WBA Executive Vice President Jesus Mendoza and IBF President Daryl Peoples discussed electronic scoring and open scoring, the use of instant replay, multiple life insurance, gloves certification the amateur boxing scene and the planned unification of titles. Prior to the meeting Sulaiman indicated they were also going to talk about performance enhancing drugs or PEDs and drug testing, ring officials, scoring systems and a whole variety of things.? There will be another meeting of the leaders at the Female Boxing Convention in Playa Del Carmen on September 24th. Sulaiman who succeeded his father Don Jose Sulaiman as WBC president said it was a ?great chance to change some aspects of current boxing? and that they were meeting to ?take different ideas and suggestions of all the participants and their teams.? He appealed to his colleagues ?to try to work together in behalf of the fans, fighters and people who love this sport.? Gilberto Mendoza Jr said the WBA was in Cancun ?because we want to participate in the boxing changes. It's time to try to find together the boxing solutions.? For his part IBF president Darryl F. Peoples who was accompanied by the Chairman of the Ratings Committee Lindsey Tucker said he agreed to attend the meeting ?because I felt that there were several things that we needed to discuss that affect us specifically as sanctioning organizations.? Peoples added, ?overall the meeting was very productive and I am very satisfied with all that was discussed.? WBO president Francisco ?Paco? Valcarcel who decided not to attend the summit said he was willing to meet with any of the different organization?s representatives privately, claiming that they already had two previous meetings but nothing happened.
