CUELLO POISED FOR RING RETURN
By Rene Bonsubre, Jr. PhilBoxing.com Thu, 19 Jun 2014

Promoter Aljoe Jaro is planning a blockbuster fight card that will not just feature the highly anticipated return of former world title challenger Denver ?The Excitement? Cuello but also former world champs Sonny Boy Jaro and Florante Condes as well as Asian Boxing Federation (ABF) champ Jomar Fajardo.
The date is August 16, 2014 with the venue still to be determined. Cuello?s list of possible opponents also looks quite interesting. Jaro informed that topping the list of foes is a rematch with Xiong Zhao Zhong of China.
Cuello lost a heart-breaking majority decision in his attempt to wrest the WBC strawweight world title. The southpaw Cuello knocked down Zhong in round one but had to endure fighting with an injured right shoulder for the next eleven rounds. Zhong is now an ex-champion. Jaro told philboxing that Denver has 100 percent recovered from the injury. He has been in the gym for one month and has also done weight training.
?He has been hitting the heavy bag and punch mitts. Last month, he had a check up at Makati medical and he has been allowed to spar since the first week of June.? Jaro said.?But I plan to let him start sparring at the end of this month. We will be targeting the WBC asia miniflyweight championship.?
Jaro mentioned name fighters like Pornsawan Propamok of Thailand) and Tommy Seran of Indonesia as possible foes for Cuello?s comeback fight.
A win will propel Cuello back into contender status and another crack at the WBC crown.
