Myanmar Southeast Asian Games gold medalists Kristie Elaine Alora, Jade Zafra and Kristopher Robert Uy have been seeded to make it to the Philippine Taekwondo team to this year's Asian Games set middle of this year in Incheon, South Korea.

Philippine Taekwondo Association national training director Noel Veneracion assured this during last week's SCOOP Sa Kamayan On Air radio program aired over DZAR 1026 KHZ on the AM band.

'Itataga ko na sa bato, siguradong makakasama ang tatlong yan sa ipadadala natin sa Incheon," Veneracion, who appeared as guest in the program, along with coach Dindo Simpao, a member of the national coaching staff, said during the one-hour sports forum held everyThursday under the auspices of the Sports Communicators Organization of the Philippines and sponsored by the Triple V chain of restaurants.

"First, because all three fall under the criteria set by the POC-PSC Asian Games task force, and second because, undoubtedly, they are the best fighters under the national training pool," Veneracion said.

Veneracion was referring to the group formed by the Philippine Olympic Committee and the Philippine Sports Commission tasked with overseeing the selection for membership of the national contingent.

PSC chair Ritchie Garcia head the task force in his capatity as the PH contingent's chef de mission.

"Their gold medal victories against the tough field in the recent SEA Games attest to that," Simpao. butted in.

The duo said the PTA, under the rules of the Asiad Organizing Committee, will be sending a maximum of six men and six women selection in the taekwondo competitions in the 17th edition of the quadrennial conclave scheduled September 19 to October 4 in that bustling industrial city 62-kilometer west of Korean Capital City of Seoul.

Results of the year-round competitions held by the PTA, particularly the recent Carlos J. Palanca Cup, will determine the remaining slots for the national squad, Veneracion and Simpao chorused.

Evaluation on the performance of the aspirants in those tournaments have already been submitted to the PTA board and is expected to be released within the next two weeks.

Ten men and the same number of women candidates will constitute the national training pool which will undergo extensive training, including international exposure to several competitions overseas.

Zafra ruled the women's under-57 kilogram division in Myanmar, while Alora topped the women's over 73-kg category. Uy beat all comers in crowning himself in the men's 83-kg. level.
