SERVANIA KO?S QUI?ONES, CUBAN ALEYE WINS PHIL. DEBUT

PhilBoxing.com

CEBU CITY ? Roland Servania of the ALA Gym needed only 49 seconds and a right uppercut to halt Dingdong Qui?ones in the main event of the ?Sinulog? fight card held Sunday at the Gaisano Country Mall Carpark.

Servania is now 6W-0L, 2 KO?s, Quinones drops to 3W-8L-1D, 1 KO.

Reymi Castellano Aleye of Cuba gave an impressive display of his boxing skills and won by unanimous decision after six rounds against Rodel Wenceslao of Mandaue City. Both boxers were content with probing and finding out what the other guy had in the opening round.

Wenceslao resorted to showboating in the second and third rounds but Aleye did not want any part of it. The Cuban scored with sharp one-two combos and took a quick step back making Wenceslao hit nothing but air.

Aleye?s skill level unraveled in the 4th, with his excellent footwork, he avoided Wenceslao?s mad rushes. Aleye tagged Wenceslao with a variety of head and body shots. It was the Cuban?s turn to taunt Wenceslao in the later rounds; his defense effectively catching Wenceslao?s punches in his arms.

The scores of the judges - Jomar Embodo ? 59-55, Edward Ligas ? 58-56, Arnie Najera ? 58-56. This was Aleye?s third pro fight having seen action twice in Cambodia.

Jonas Sultan knocked down Marlon Macayan twice in the first round with his left hook. Macayan survived the early onslaught and tried to make a fight out of it in the third. A point was deducted from Macayan in the 5th round for rabbit punches. Sultan landed enough head shots to keep Macayan at bay and a hematoma formed on Macayan?s left eyebrow.

The scores ? Ben Necesario and Arnie Najera had it 59-53, Edward Ligas ? 59-52.

Jess Rhey Waminal beat Jerome Baja by TKO in the second round. Baja was pinned in his own corner and Waminal unleashed a couple of hooks that decked Baja. He got up but received further punishment on the ropes prompting referee Jomar Embodo to stop the fight at the 2:48 mark.

The professional fights were supervised by Celso Miranda and Rolando Mendoza of GAB-Cebu. The free to the public event was opened by amateur fights and exhibition bouts between pro boxers versus clients training at the ALA Boxing Fitness Gym.
