NBA -- Bulls fall short in 3 OT thriller By James Floyd PhilBoxing.com Wed, 04 Dec 2013 CHICAGO -- Home cooking was not good enough for the Chicago Bulls, who continued to struggle following a heartbreaking 131-128 overtime loss to the New Orleans Pelicans Monday night at the United Center. The loss stained the Bulls' 5-0 home record and dropped them to 7-9. Ryan Anderson led the 9-8 Pelicans with 36 points, including 7-of-11 from three-point range. A noted sharpshooter, Anderson entered Monday's game ranked second in the league in three-point shooting accuracy at 56.4 percent, nailing 35 of 62 previous attempts. When asked about Anderson?s key shots throughout the game, Chicago Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau attributed his success beyond the arc to second chance opportunities. ?They got some scramble threes off of second chance points that I thought hurt us. You have to look at the personnel on the floor. Ryan Anderson is the kind of guy that can do that to you.? Anderson wasn?t the only one contributing to the cause. The Pelicans guard Eric Gordon also provided a much needed spark going (7-of-23) for 23 points, nine of which came in the fourth quarter. ?They?re a fast paced team with a lot of offensive weapons.? Those weapons Thibodeau referred to were Jrue Holiday (14 PTS), and Tyreke Evans (13 PTS). ?I didn?t like our defensive transition to start. You have to challenge shots. I thought (11-for-23) from the three-point stripe was too much.? Although the loss to the Pelicans seems discouraging, there are some positives to take away from this game. Luol Deng continued his hot offensive streak going (15-of-27) for a game high 37 points. Taj Gibson added 23 points, 14 rebounds, and five blocks. ?I thought we got great bench play from Taj. He was battling at a very high level. He?s getting deep post position, protecting the basket,? added Thibodeau. When asked what stood out as something to build on for their upcoming opponent, the Miami Heat, Tibedeu said, ?The fight was there, like, we didn?t go away. We got down, fought back.?
