Well-known promoter Peter Maniatis who handles the southpaw Petalcorin in partnership with JR Manangquil informed the Manila Standard that both fighters weighed in at 107 ? pounds and after the weigh-in stared down at each other. The official weigh in which was supervised by Australian Brad Vocale. Maniatis said that Singmanasak who arrived in Melbourne last Wednesday predicted that Petalcorin would be his 28th knockout victim on Friday nigh. Petalcorin who arrived in Australia over one month ago who is currently ranked No. 2 by the WBA said "I am fit and ready to fight now. I have enjoyed my one month stay in Australia and had a good training camp and am looking forward to fighting Singmanasak.? The Filipino who was training in the hometown of ?Fighter of the Decade? Manny Pacquiao under the brothers JR and JC Manangquil in General Santos City has been training at Mick Hargreaves BoxingFit gym. The 29 year old Singmanasak is a former Thai light flyweight champion and has a deceiving record of 35-20-1 with 27 knockouts while the 21 year old Petalcorin has a comparatively impressive record of 19-1-1 with 14 knockouts. He is coming off a 9th round technical draw with tough Rene Patilano after Petalcorin suffered a nasty cut on his left eyelid because of an accidental head-butt forcing officials to go to the scorecards of the three judges resulting in the draw. Singmanasak had a long layoff after being knocked out in the first round by Filipino Armando De La Cruz in a clash for the vacant IBF Pan Pacific title on December 26, 2008 but came back on October 5 this year to score a first round knockout over Kla Bangmond Sports Center who was making his pro debut according to boxrec.com. Maniatis believes Petalcorin has the talent to beat Singmanasak and move up to No. 1 in the WBA rankings which would put him in line for a title shot. According to Maniatis he is trying to set up a meeting between Petalcorin and big businessman Sean Buckley who is the CEO of the international company UltraTune Services Center and also owns champion race horses and stud firms. Should Petalcorin win, Maniatis is hoping to stage a world title fight in Melbourne with the support of the wealthy Mr. Buckley.
