NBA -- Kings continue "Blackout" tradition
By Emerald Miller PhilBoxing.com Thu, 08 Aug 2013

SAN JOSE -- For only the second time in the last ten seasons, the Sacramento Kings will open their season at home when they host the Denver Nuggets on October 30, 2013.
The Kings will make the first home game a "Blackout" game in which every fan in attendance will be given black t-shirts while the team's players will wear black jerseys. The Kings have continued this tradition from last year, where their first home game was also a blackout game.
Many believed that the Kings would not return to Sacramento after former owners, Joe and Gavin Maloof, agreed to sell the team to a Seattle-based ownership group led by Chris Hansen. But Sacramento Mayor and former NBA All Star Kevin Johnson assembled an ownership group that eventually kept the Kings in California's state capital.
Now, the Kings will begin their 28th season in Sacramento with high hopes that their young duo of DeMarcus Cousins and Ben LcLemore will mesh with new veteran addition, Carl Landry, and the rest of the Kings roster.
McLemore was a highly regarded rookie plucked from last June's NBA draft. The 6-5, shooting guard from Kansas University had an up and down performance in the Las Vegas Summer League. Although he only shot 33 percent from the field, McLemore displayed a lot of athleticism by attacking the basket.
New head coach, Mike Malone, will likely start the rookie to begin the year.
Other highlights in the schedule is a trip to Madison Square Garden February 12, 2014, against the New York Knicks, and a home game against the back-to-back defending NBA Champions, Miami Heat, on December 27, 2013. (EM)
