JUN DOLIGUEZ READY FOR RUBEN TAMAYO By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Thu, 18 Jul 2013 ![]() Doliguez. Undefeated featherweight Jun Doliguez (16-0-1, 12 KO?s) is ready to make his debut under Zanfer Promotions hreaded by Fernando Beltran when he faces Ruben Tamayo (22-4-3, 16 KO's) in Merida, Mexico on July 20. Tamayo is a replacement for WBO Intercontinental featherweight champion Jose ?Negro? Ramirez who is ranked No. 7 by the WBO and has a record of 25-3 with 15 knockouts. Doliguez? manager Elmer Anuran told the Manila Standard that Doliguez, who is ranked No. 9, had trained for a short time at the Wild Card Gym of Freddie Roach in Los Angeles and was just two pounds over the limit two days before the Tamayo showdown. Anuran said Doliguez was in Mexico and was "adjusting to the hot weather but it would be no problem." Anuran revealed that should Doliguez win impressively he would be on the undercard of the Julio Cesar Chavez- Vera fight on September 7 against Oscar Gonzales. He said Ramirez had turned down an offer that was raised from $3,000 to $7,000 and ?he refused take it still? even though it was much better than the initial offer for an eight round bout. . In what will be a battle of southpaws, Tamayo is coming off a win last January 14 over Juan Beltran who retired in the fourth round. However, Tamayo lost by an 8th round knockout to Jesus Ruiz in a rematch for the WBC Fecombox title last April 19 after salvaging a split draw against Ruiz on June 23, 2012. Tamayo also lost by a 5th round TKO to Genaro Camargo on December 14, 2012. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Ronnie Nathanielsz. |
