PARA?AQUE CITY ? Merlito ?Tiger? Sabillo made a successful first defense of his WBO minimumweight world title against Jorle Estrada of Colombia Saturday night in the main event of Pinoy Pride XXI at the Solaire Resort and Casino.

The Tiger stalked his prey who spent the early rounds using the entire ring to get away from the southpaw Sabillo?s power left. Sabillo shifted his attack to the body to slow Estrada down in the 4th. Estrada continued to fight on the back foot and his attempts at offense were few and far in between.

Estrada tried to increase his output past the halfway mark but Sabillo continued to fire at his opponent?s ribs. In the 9th, a left uppercut to the liver sent Estrada down grimacing in pain. Referee Raul Caiz,Jr reached the ten count at 1:09.

ANOTHER REGIONAL CROWN FOR THE ?KING?

?King? Arthur Villanueva subdued Arturo ?Fuerte? Badillo of Mexico and stopped him in for rounds for the vacant WBO Asia-Pacific super flyweight title. Villanueva immediately established his jab in the opening round and tagged Badillo with sharp one-two combos. In the 2nd, Badillo tried to move in but a clash of heads inflicted cuts on Badillo?s scalp.

Villanueva showed that he was not afraid to engage the power punching Mexican in close quarters and moved in and out with ease. Another accidental headbutt interrupted the action in the 3rd.

Trainer Edmund Villamor praised his fighter and said that Villanueva was even attentive to his corrections even after he scored a spectacular win. AJ ?Bazooka?
